Free entry to national parks, national historic sites and marine conservation areas during regular operating hours could return for a third summer in 2027, under a Budget 2026 proposal of $76 million in 2027-28. The Canada Strong Pass also gives 25 per cent off Parks Canada camping and overnight accommodation and discounted VIA Rail fares. It has run for two summers already, but the budget is only a proposal until Parliament approves it.

Guided tours, hikes, programs, permits, parking, fishing licences and firewood still cost money. The pass does not cover provincial, territorial or municipal parks, including Quebec's Sépaq parks.

The 2026 run ran from June 19 to September 7, after the 2025 run from June 20 to September 2, so the 2027 dates, price and eligibility are not yet set. Canadian Heritage said in May 2026 that the pass gave free admission to Parks Canada sites and discounted camping and VIA Rail fares.

Budget 2026 also proposes permanently free year-round admission to Canada's national museums for children and youth under 25, backed by $46.3 million over five years starting in 2026-27, plus $11.5 million ongoing. A proposed 2027 addition would give discounted access to Indigenous-led museums and cultural centres.

Parliament still has to approve the budget before the 2027 dates are set.
