Circle K slashed fuel prices by 10 cents per litre for four hours on October 15 during a promotion called National Fuel Day at participating Alberta locations, offering a brief window of relief at the pump.
The discount ran from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time on October 15, with a maximum purchase of 100 litres per vehicle. Stéphane Trudel, senior vice-president of operations at Alimentation Couche-Tard (Circle K's parent company), said in a statement: "Our goal is to make life on the road just a little easier, because we know that every trip adds up."
Circle K app users got early access to the discount from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on the same day, also at 10 cents per litre, limited to one offer per account and available while supplies lasted. The early-access offer could not be combined with the standard Fuel Day promotion.
Alberta residents are also benefiting from a broader fuel tax relief. The federal government extended its fuel excise tax relief to January 31, 2027, cutting 10 cents per litre off gas and 4 cents per litre off diesel. The provincial government extended its own fuel tax pause, reducing prices by 13 cents per litre at the pump through the end of 2026. These combined savings mean Alberta drivers have access to significant relief, though Circle K's one-time discount was a temporary bonus above those ongoing reductions.
