Dillon Brooks, the Phoenix Suns forward from Mississauga, Ontario, has been charged with a Class 1 misdemeanour for driving under the influence in connection with a March arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Brooks was arrested during a traffic stop on March 6 at roughly 1 a.m., taken to jail for investigation, and released around 3:30 a.m. following the booking process. His court date for the DUI charge is set for October 28.

The 30-year-old is also facing separate misdemeanour charges for reckless driving and speeding related to a January arrest, with a court date of November 9 for those charges.

At the time of the March arrest, Brooks was dealing with a fractured left hand. Last season, he averaged 20.2 points per game — a career high — and signed a three-year, $73 million contract extension during the off-season that keeps him with the Suns through 2030.

"This charge stems from the incident last March," Stacey Mitch, senior vice president of communications for the Suns, said in a statement. "We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment."
