Jazz Aviation flight attendants have ratified a new five-year labour agreement, ending months of contract negotiations that nearly triggered a strike.
The Canadian Flight Attendant Union, representing 865 flight attendants at the airline, voted to accept the deal after a tentative agreement was reached in September. The ratification vote concluded this week. The agreement includes what the airline described as "industry-competitive wages and benefits," though Jazz Aviation did not disclose specific terms.
Flight attendants had voted last month to authorize a strike if negotiations stalled, giving the union leverage in talks. The tentative agreement in September appeared to resolve the impasse, and the subsequent ratification vote formalized the deal.
Jazz Aviation operates Air Canada Express flights across 65 destinations in North America and is a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation Inc. The new contract covers five years of labour peace for the carrier.
