Prime Minister Mark Carney is heading to Calgary for the Calgary Stampede on Saturday, July 11, following a weeklong Middle East trip that included stops in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

In Calgary, Carney is set to meet with representatives of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 First Nations this afternoon, then visit the Calgary Stampede grounds. Carney has said the stampede celebrates "Alberta's ranching heritage, Indigenous traditions and the spirit of the West."

Several members of Parliament are already in Calgary for the event, including International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu, Heritage Minister Marc Miller, and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
