Arrest made in fatal Okanagan Granfondo crash one year later

One year and a week after a crash during the Okanagan Granfondo killed a cyclist and hospitalized two others, Jonathan Crant has been arrested and charged. He faces one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
The crash occurred on July 13, 2025, near White Lake Road and St. Andrew's Drive in Kaleden, southwest of Penticton. The victim was Ava Choy, a lifelong Lower Mainland volunteer.
"This has been a complex investigation requiring significant investigative efforts to collect, analyze and assess evidence," said Staff Sgt. Scott Hanry of Penticton RCMP. "Our community was profoundly impacted by this event. Our thoughts remain with all family members and those affected by this tragic incident."
The investigation by Penticton RCMP produced a large body of evidence submitted to the BC Prosecution Service. The case remains ongoing, and the RCMP will not be providing additional comments as the file is now before the courts. Court records do not yet indicate when Crant is due to appear.
