Quebec workers are falling further behind the national earnings average, fresh Statistics Canada data shows. In June 2026, the average weekly earnings in Quebec were $1,291.91—roughly $51.95 less per week than the Canadian average of $1,343.86. Annualized, that gap amounts to about $2,702 per year.
The shortfall has widened notably. A year earlier, in June 2025, the gap was $43.70 per week. Quebec's year-over-year earnings growth came in at 2.7%, trailing the national growth rate of 3.4%.
Quebec's relative standing has not improved against peer provinces either. Only four provinces—New Brunswick, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island—reported lower average weekly earnings than Quebec in June 2026. Alberta led at $1,361.32 per week, followed by Ontario at $1,327.44. The territories posted much higher figures, with Nunavut at $1,774.49 and the Northwest Territories at $1,726.73.
