RJ Mitte, the actor who played Walter White Jr. on five seasons of Breaking Bad, died Monday at his home in Brownsville, Texas. He was 34.

Mitte was pronounced dead at about 1:30 p.m. by Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa. The cause of death is unknown and will be determined following an autopsy.

Mitte appeared in nearly every episode of Breaking Bad, the critically acclaimed series that paired him opposite Bryan Cranston, who played his character's father, chemistry teacher-turned-meth dealer Walter White. The show was recently ranked the best of the 21st century in a New York Times poll.

Beyond his acting work, Mitte became known for disability advocacy and inclusion work. Living with cerebral palsy, he brought what his representatives called authentic representation to the role. "Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion," a statement from representatives said. "He used his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities."
