Wildfire crews contain two of three blazes near Okanagan Connector
Lightning sparked six new fires across the B.C. Interior on Sunday. Two are now held, but the largest continues burning out of control at 1.1 hectares.

The Lacoma Creek wildfire and a blaze in the North Missezula Lake region are now held, while the Davies Lake fire remains out of control at 1.1 hectares, according to the BC Wildfire Service update Sunday evening.
All three fires were lightning-caused and discovered on Aug. 22. The Lacoma Creek fire and North Missezula Lake fire each reached 0.009 hectares before crews got control. The Davies Lake blaze, the largest of the lightning-caused fires in the area, was discovered south of Aspen Grove and east of Highway 5A.
There are no current area restrictions near these incidents. The blazes are part of a broader wave of lightning-caused fires across the province following a thunderstorm warning issued for the B.C. Southern Interior that materialized Sunday night.
Incident management teams working on the larger Bald Range wildfire near Summerland, which now stands at 25,021 hectares, are coordinating resources across multiple fires in the region. Another single-tree strike fire was discovered in Trepanier Park, where crews cannot access on foot—a helicopter will assist with bucketing as needed while rappel teams mobilize to action the blaze.
