Wildfire-fighting plane crashes in Northwest Territories

A small plane carrying three people fighting wildfires in the Northwest Territories crashed Wednesday night, with authorities unable to confirm the survival status of those on board.
The crash occurred about 50 kilometres from Fort Simpson, west of Yellowknife. The aircraft was a Turbo Commander 960 Bird Dog, which is typically used as an airborne command centre to coordinate firefighting operations.
RCMP officers were able to reach the crash site and have launched an investigation. The Transportation Safety Board has been called in to investigate.
