Wednesday's got commute chaos and World Cup fever building

Morning. It's 20°C and misty out there, which means you won't need the heavy jacket but you will need sunscreen—UV's running at 8 today, which is properly high. Sun doesn't drop until 8:58 p.m., so you've got decent light for the evening if you're heading out.

Commute's a bit of a mess on the 401 this morning. Westbound has a collision at Morningside that's got all lanes tied up—you're going to want to use the Collector if you can swing it. On the eastbound side, there's a lane closure at Brimley. And if you're heading out to Sauga on the QEW toward Fort Erie, there's a fender-bender at Cawthra that's taken out a couple of left lanes. Give yourself extra time or look for an alternate route if any of that's on your way.

On a different note: World Cup fever's properly ramping up. The Bosnian community in T.O. is gearing up for Canada's opening match this weekend against Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the city's throwing FIFA Countdown Concerts tonight at Fort York if you want to feel the vibe before things get really wild. Fair warning though—there's been some noise about the illicit drug supply in the city right now, and World Cup visitors are being warned to be careful out there. It's real.

If you're thinking about dinner, keep an eye on the Junction—a French chef named Didier Leroy is opening an intimate spot there. Summer's also bringing Poke Burgers to the World Food Market, and there's festival season ramping up if you're into that sort of thing. Food costs have shifted a lot since 2012, and it shows everywhere you eat these days.

If you're looking at tonight: there's live music at the Danforth Music Hall (Jane Remover with Dazegxd at 7), theatre at the Royal Alexandra (& Juliet at 7:30, or catch it this afternoon at 1:30), and the Tempo are playing Connecticut Sun at the Coca-Cola Coliseum at 7. The FIFA concert at Fort York goes at 7 too if that's more your speed.

Stay dry out there, watch the highway, and we'll catch you tomorrow.
