Monday's got music and transit chaos—pick your lane.
16°C and mostly clear, the 401's a mess, and the Jays are home tonight.
Morning. We're sitting at 16 with that high UV (8.0), so if you're heading outside today, the sun's doing real work—sunscreen isn't optional. You've got a long daylight run ahead of you: sunset doesn't come until 9:03 PM, so evening plans have room to breathe.
Commute's rough today, fair warning. The 401 eastbound at Dixie in Sauga's got a collision tying up the right lane and shoulder—nothing fast about that route this morning. Back in the city, the eastbound express is jammed at the 409 with a left lane and shoulder closed. And if you're heading west toward the airport corridor, there's a disabled vehicle holding up the express lanes at the 400. None of these are quick clears, so give yourself some buffer and maybe scope out an alternate if you've got flexibility.
On the transit side, the 501 Queen's running a detour westbound—you're cutting via Parliament, King East, and Church while they sort out a service issue. The Ontario Line construction's rolling visible at Exhibition Station this summer if you're curious what's coming next on that rebuild.
A couple things worth knowing: Unifor's launching auto talks with Ford this week, which matters if you're watching the labour beat. And if you flew through Pearson mid-June, there was a measles exposure reported on the 13th—worth knowing if timing lines up with your travel.
Food-wise, Bar32 ice cream's back in Rosedale with a coffee program attached, which is a solid scoop if you're craving something cold later (the weather supports it). Over in Mirvish Village, a retired diplomat just opened Pasta Basta if you want proper pasta for dinner. Fair heads-up though: Defina Wood Fired's closing after a decade in the Junction, so if that spot mattered to you, this week's one of your last chances.
Tonight's got some real options. The Jays are home against Houston at Rogers Centre, first pitch 7:07 PM—classic Monday baseball. If live music's more your speed, Young The Giant and Cold War Kids are playing two venues tonight (History at 6, or Coca-Cola Coliseum at 7), and the TD Toronto Jazz Festival is at the Danforth Music Hall at 7. Sekou's at the Mod Club if you want something smaller. All indoors, which works fine for the weather.
Get through the commute, catch your breath, and pick your evening. The week's young.
Stay sorted.
