Sunny Saturday — catch the Tempo, hit a patio, stay loose.
15 degrees, clear skies, and the city's got real plans for you today.
Morning. It's Saturday, June 27th, and T.O.'s giving you one of those days you actually want to be outside. 15 degrees and mainly sunny — the UV's sitting at 8, which is high, so if you're spending real time out there, sunscreen isn't a suggestion. You've got full daylight until 9:03 PM, so plan long.
A couple of heads-ups on getting around: there's some work on Wellesley West near Queen's Park, and if you're heading north on the 427, there's a collision that's got the shoulders and left lane tied up around the Rathburn Collector transfer. The Gardiner westbound is also dealing with closures before Jameson. Nothing that kills your day, but worth knowing if you're heading that way early.
On the news side: the CN Tower's marking 50 years, which is a whole thing — the Dot's got history in that one. And Sneaky Dee's, the Queen West spot everyone knows, is mounting a campaign to push back a July 8 vote that could change things there. Worth keeping an eye on if that corner means something to you.
For eating, you've got options. Seven new summer patios just opened across the city, and on a day like today they're going to be packed — get there early or late if you want a seat. If you're craving something proper, Ryan Baddeley's pizza's been ranking 59th globally for three years running, and there's word that Magnolia Bakery's coming to Ontario with 10 locations on the way. Elliott Tree Farm's Golden Harvest syrup also just cracked the top 20 globally, if you're into that kind of thing.
Sports-wise, the Toronto Tempo take on the Phoenix Mercury at Scotiabank Arena at 2:00 PM — that's a live option if you want to be inside with a crowd and some energy.
This evening flips into theatre and dance territory. Sampradaya Dance Academy's running their annual recital at Meadowvale Theatre at 4:00 PM. People Watching Collective's got a piece called Play Dead at Meridian Arts Centre starting at 4:00 as well. Casa Loma's got the Dressing the Abbey exhibit opening at 5:30 PM if you want to walk the grounds while there's still light — the weather's on your side. And if you're in the mood for late hours, Electric Island (19+) is running a two-day pass thing at South River in the Portlands.
It's a solid day for being in the city, whether that's a patio, a game, or catching something live. Bundle up lightly and go.
Stay sorted.
