Monday's here—sunny, warm, and the Jays are home tonight
Commute's got some bumps, but it's a pretty day to get through them.
It's 17 degrees and mainly sunny out there—nice one for a Monday. UV's sitting at 9, which is high, so if you're outside for lunch or the afternoon, sunscreen's worth it. Sun doesn't drop until just after 9 tonight, so you've got plenty of daylight to work with.
Commute's got a few things to know: there's a disabled vehicle blocking the left lanes on the 409 eastbound at Martin Grove, and the 401 Express is dealing with a couple slowdowns—one at Jane Street and another out at Kennedy in Scarborough, both eating into the right lane. If you're heading out of the city on the QEW toward the Skyway, the on-ramp at Cawthra in Sauga is completely closed for maintenance, so you'll need to find another way up. Give yourself a little extra time if you're heading west.
Couple things to clock this morning: a teenager from Lindsay got charged over a brawl in Leslieville that put someone in the hospital, and there's been a two-vehicle crash in Brampton that took a life. Closer to home, North York had a rough night—apartment fire that left one dead and three more hurt. On a lighter note, Pride Parade drew big crowds yesterday as the World Cup kicks into knockout rounds; Canada's playing South Africa today and it's been a whole thing with tickets.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some good stuff to check out. Church-Wellesley spots are firing on all cylinders with Pride weekend energy still in the air. And if you want something random and actually kind of fun, Kraft Dinner just dropped a ramen fusion at the 7-Eleven—one of those things that shouldn't work but probably does.
Tonight's got options. The Jays are home at Rogers Centre at 7:07 against the Mets if you want to catch some baseball. If live music's more your speed, Evanescence and Spiritbox are at the RBC Amphitheatre at 7, or you can head to Casa Loma for Symphony in the Gardens—Salsa to Samba at 7:30, which is a nice outdoor move given how clean the evening's going to be. There's also Bayou at the Mod Club at 7 if you want something smaller and late-night.
Stay dry out there, watch for those highway backups, and make it a good one.
