Heat warning Tuesday — get out early, catch the Jays tonight
Warm day ahead, some road trouble on the 401, and live music waiting after sunset.
Morning. It's 21°C right now but it's gonna feel like 26° and the UV is running high at 9.0—that's the kind of day where sunscreen isn't optional. We've got a heat warning up, so if you're heading outside for lunch or the whole day, plan accordingly. You've still got nearly 15 and a half hours of daylight—sunset's not until 9:03 PM, which is gold for tonight.
Commute heads-up: there's a collision blocking lanes on the 401 westbound at the 427 ramp, and another one further east at Dixon/Martin Grove taking out a right lane. Both are clogging the morning crawl, so if you're heading that way, leave a bit earlier or check alternate routes. Closer to home, Trethewey from Brookhaven to Todd Baylis and Broadview from Cosburn to Bater are both closed today.
Not much else burning locally except the usual—there's a hate-motivated assault investigation ongoing, and a TTC streetcar assault suspect they're looking for. Keep your head on a swivel out there.
For lunch or dinner, Flying Tiger just opened their first Canadian store at the Eaton Centre if you want to scope it out. If you're feeling fancy, Animl steakhouse is running a $126 Bo Dog hot dog tribute to the Jays star who just came back—it's a thing. There's also five new patios worth checking out this summer if you're building your list.
Tonight's the night. The Jays are home at Rogers Centre at 7:07 PM against the Mets—warm evening, good baseball weather. If live music is more your speed, there's shows at Sneaky Dee's (SLAMWICH with The Outer Gods), The Garrison, and The Mod Club all kicking off around 7. With this heat warning though, anything outdoors is gonna feel solid; anything inside gets a little dicey as the night goes.
Tomorrow's Canada Day, so tonight's your last quiet Tuesday for a minute. Get out if you're gonna.
