Tuesday's warm, the 401's a mess—pick your night out

Morning's mild but sticky—21°C that'll feel like 27° by afternoon, mostly cloudy, and the UV's sitting at 8 (high), so if you're out at lunch don't sleep on sunscreen. You've got a long evening to play with: sunset's not till 9:01 PM.

Commute heads-up: the 401's taking a beating this morning. There's a collision westbound near Allen Road blocking the left shoulder and lane, and another one further west at Morningside Ave with two left lanes down. If you're heading east, there's a disabled vehicle near the 404/DVP junction cramping the left lane. The 427 northbound's also backed up around Rexdale and Derry with a collision blocking the left side. Pick your route and give yourself extra time—nothing's moving fast out there.

On the local front, there's some real stuff happening. Biidaasige Park is expanding with a new art trail, waterfront promenade, and a heritage crane—if you're looking for a reason to head that way, the bones are getting better. And Summer McIntosh just broke the women's 200m butterfly world record at the Canadian trials, which is the kind of thing that reminds you why this city matters in the water.

If you're hungry, Shawarma Palace is coming to T.O. this fall after three decades of doing it right in Ottawa—worth marking your calendar for that one. For tonight, if you want something new, Don Tell just opened on Ossington with French-Asian bites and live music, which sounds like a Tuesday well spent. Rikki Tikki's also moving into that iconic Jarvis Street spot Bombay Palace left behind, bringing Japanese barbecue and premium Wagyu to the Financial District.

Evening's got options: Water for Elephants is running at the Ed Mirvish if you want the circus feel, or there's theatre at the Princess of Wales and the Baillie Theatre at the Young Centre if you'd rather stay indoors. Alex Warren's playing the RBC Amphitheatre at 7:30 if live music's calling. With the sun staying out till past nine, outdoor's still got some charm, but indoor beats the humidity.

Get out there and make the day work. See you tonight.
