Thursday heat's here—watch the UV, watch the DVP.
Warm one today with some commute friction. Evening's got theatre and live music if you're keen.
It's hitting 22 right now but it'll feel closer to 29 by midday, so that SPF isn't optional—UV's sitting at 8, which is high. You've got a solid 15 hours of daylight, and the sun doesn't drop until 9 p.m., so plan accordingly if you're catching anything outside.
Commute-wise, there's a disabled vehicle tying up the 401 westbound express at Rougemount Drive—right lane and shoulder are closed, so leave a few extra minutes if you're heading that way. On the surface, there's some work on Finch Ave W around Jayzel Dr, and the DVP's got a diversion before Eastern Ave. Nothing catastrophic, but worth knowing.
Couple of things on the radar: trading card robberies have been spiking across the GTA with stores taking losses over 200K, so if you're hitting any shops that way, security's been beefed up. On a lighter note, the new Ontario Line elevated subway's moving fast—the guideway's accelerating nicely and you're going to get some wild skyline views once it's up. Early 2030s is the target.
Two of the Beaches are closed today due to E. coli levels, but the rest of the waterfront's safe if you want to cool off later.
For lunch or dinner, Post-Nup just opened on Yonge near Eglinton—it's a pub with a cheeky nod to Prenup's closure, and people are already having a laugh about the whole thing. If you're thinking ahead to tomorrow, National French Fry Day kicks off Friday with deals from Five Guys, McDonald's, and a few other chains. And at the end of summer, Agora Yorkville's opening with Greek grab-and-go and a secret garden patio if you want to scope it out before the rush.
Tonight's got options. If you're feeling live music, Six Feet Under and Kataklysm are at Lee's Palace (doors 6 p.m., show at 7—it's 19+). Theatre crowd's got Medusa at the Baillie Theatre at Young Centre starting 7:30 p.m., or The Secret Chord: A Leonard Cohen Experience over at the CAA Theatre at the same time. Pick your vibe—it's that kind of evening.
