Friday in the 6ix: 20 and mostly clear, hit the 401 smart

It's a Friday morning, and the weather's playing ball. Twenty degrees, mostly cloudy, and the sun doesn't set until 9 PM—that's a proper summer evening waiting for you. UV's sitting at 8, which is high, so if you're heading outside today (and you should), don't sleep on the sunscreen.

If you're heading anywhere near the 401, give yourself extra time this morning. There's a collision blocking all lanes on the westbound on-ramp at Warden, and the eastbound on-ramp at Islington is shut down too. On top of that, there's debris clogging the westbound collector near Kingston Road, and highway maintenance has the left lane closed at the Keele Street collector ramp. It's a mess out there—take the side streets if you can, or just leave early.

Couple of things worth knowing around the city: Scarborough residents are fed up with parking tickets piling up when there's nowhere legal to park. And if you've been following the RCMP Greenbelt investigation, Marit Stiles marked the 1,000th day this week—with cake, for the occasion. Meanwhile, Hayley Wickenheiser is out after eight seasons with the Leafs organization. Also, if you're flying out of Pearson soon, watch out for fake articles about flights going around online—AI-generated stuff spreading bogus info. Check official sources before you head to the airport.

For eating, you've got some solid options. If you're craving elevated Mexican, Quetzal on College is leading the charge and has a Michelin star to show for it. Parkdale's Lali Gurans is doing hard-to-find Nepali and Newari food on Queen West if you want to wander west. And the team behind a viral Ontario Vietnamese spot is opening their first Toronto location soon—keep your eyes open for that one. Late-night Chinese is always there if you need it, and starting July 13, Tim Hortons and Crocs are dropping a limited-edition Iced Capp shoe if that's your kind of thing.

Tonight's where it gets good. Digable Planets is at Phoenix Concert Theatre (19+), bringing the '90s hip-hop heat. If live music isn't your move, Cirque du Soleil's Luzia is running under the Big Top with shows at 3:30 PM if you want to catch the afternoon, or there's a George Thorogood tribute at Rockpile if you're feeling classic rock. FIFA Fan Festival is on at Fort York and the Bentway if you want to kick around outside while the sun's still up.

Grab your coffee, sort the 401, and get out there. Long daylight, good weather, and plenty to do. See you out.
