Monday's cooler, the Jays are home, and the roads are a bit messy

It's noticeably cooler this morning—14°C and mainly sunny, which is a step back from the heat we've had. UV's sitting at 8 (high), so if you're outside for a stretch, sunscreen still matters. You're looking at nearly 15 hours of daylight, sunset around 8:53 PM, so there's plenty of evening left to work with.

Commute-wise, a few things to know. Eastbound Gardiner's got a disabled vehicle blocking it up before Kipling. The 401 eastbound express near Kennedy in Scarborough has a disabled vehicle too—left shoulder and left lane are closed. Heading west? There's a disabled vehicle on the westbound collector ramp at Weston Road with the right lane shut. If you're taking the Queensway westbound near Windermere, that ramp to southbound Kingsway is also blocked. The 66 Prince Edward's detoured northbound via Stephen, the Queensway, Park Lawn, and Ringley due to a collision. Nothing catastrophic, but add a few minutes if any of those are on your route.

On the local front: the Crown's narrowed charges against eight accused in Project South, the police corruption investigation that's been running. And we lost Duane Ward this weekend—the Blue Jays legend and two-time World Series reliever who was 62. The team's also just unveiled a 15-foot Joe Carter statue at Rogers Centre, honouring that 1993 walk-off home run. That's the kind of history that still matters around here.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some new energy worth checking out. XO Bisous and Barque Smokehouse just teamed up on St. Clair—an unexpected pairing that's actually working. Over by Yonge and Finch, Banh Mi Nana's brought that viral sandwich concept to the city. Bottega Volo's opening a second spot in Junction Triangle this fall if you want to keep an eye on it.

Tonight's the Jays at home—Tampa Bay Rays game starts at 7:07 PM at Rogers Centre. If baseball's not your call, there's live music around: Wax with DJ Hoppa at the Mod Club at 7, or Soul meets Symphony at Casa Loma at 7:30 if you want something more orchestral. BALTHVS is playing Lee's Palace at 8 if you're in a different headspace. There's also ballpark tours at Rogers Centre at 8 if you want to take a slower look around.

Monday's a solid day to ease back in. Get yourself sorted for the commute, and you've got options tonight depending on the mood.
