Storm's coming—catch the Jays before the sky breaks open

Morning. It's 20°C right now but humid as hell—feels more like 26 already, and that number's climbing toward 32 by afternoon. The real story is the thunderstorm heading in, so if you're planning anything outdoors, get it done early. Sun's not setting until 8:52 tonight, but you'll barely notice with the clouds rolling. UV's sitting at 7 (high), so if you're outside before the rain hits, sunscreen still matters.

On the roads, watch for closures on the Don Valley Parkway north of Eglinton, and a few street works scattered across town—Lawrence at Fortune Gate, Bathurst at Haddington, and Islington between Aylesbury and Thorncrest. Nothing catastrophic, but budget a few extra minutes if any of those are on your regular route.

Worth knowing: inflation eased to 2.8 per cent last month, but if you've been to the grocery store lately, you already know the sticker shock is still real. Separate thing—Liberty Village's getting a big makeover over the next decade: a new school, library, and pedestrian streets coming through. Long game, but good news for the neighbourhood.

If you're hungry, Cabbagetown's got a new spot worth the trip. Ca Phe just opened on Parliament with Vietnamese coffee, matcha, and croffles—basically your whole caffeine and carbs situation sorted in one place. Word is it's already the post-game fuel of choice; even the Jays players are stopping by after tough losses. If you want something heavier, XO Bisous and Barque Smokehouse are doing an unlikely team-up on St. Clair that's worth checking out. And if it's ice cream you're after, there are solid vegan scoops happening across the city this summer if dairy's not your thing.

Tonight's the Jays at Rogers Centre against Tampa Bay—game starts 7:07 PM, which is perfect timing to catch a few innings before the weather really turns. If baseball's not calling to you, there's live music all over: The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers at the RBC Amphitheatre, Fruit Bats at the Concert Hall, and some electronic stuff at the Dance Cave if you're 19+. The Amphitheatre's got a roof, so that's the call if the rain gets heavy. Otherwise pick a covered venue and ride out the storm with a drink in hand.

Stay dry out there. See you on the other side of this weather.
