Thursday's cooler, the roads are messy—map your day smart
Commute's got knots. Weather turns a notch chillier. Jays play at three. Good night to get out.
Morning's crisp at 13°C—noticeably cooler than the last few days, so layer up if you're heading out early. Sun's strong though (UV's hitting 7, which is high), so even at this temperature you'll want sunscreen if you're outside long. You've got a full fourteen hours and fifty-three minutes of daylight, so evening plans can run late; sunset's at 8:50.
Commute's got some teeth today. There's a vehicle fire tying up two right lanes on the 427 southbound at Dixon/Airport, so if you're heading that way, give yourself extra time or find another route. The 401 westbound express has a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane and shoulder at Port Union—nothing major but worth knowing. Up on the 427 northbound, there's a police investigation at the Dundas transfer that's got the right lane and shoulder closed. Jane Express is running a detour northbound via Jane and Giltspur due to a collision. Normal Thursday, in other words—just plan a few minutes buffer.
On the local front, the TTC board's weighing up weekly fare capping ahead of the monthly cap rolling out in September, so if you ride the Rocket, worth paying attention to how that lands. Separately, UHN's got a new mobile clinic pilot kicking off at some Toronto Public Library branches, which is a solid move for folks without easy access to the hospital.
If you're grabbing lunch, The Bull BBQ Pit just opened their third T.O. location in Liberty Village—worth a scoop if you're in that area. Tim Hortons is rolling out handcrafted matcha lattes across Canada if that's your thing, and Archie's is the new spot on Broadview doing burgers, steak frites, and Eastern European flavours. All three are worth a look.
Tonight's got juice. The Jays are home at Rogers Centre at 3:07 against Tampa Bay, so if you're a baseball person, you've got an afternoon game to catch. After dark, there's live music (Hatebreed's Summer Slaughter Tour hits The Phoenix at 4:00 and 6:00 if metal's your lane), theatre—The Outsiders at the Princess of Wales at 7:30—or Cirque du Soleil: Luzia under the big top, also at 7:30. Pick your vibe.
Stay warm out there.
