Saturday's here — mostly cloudy, plenty to do, watch the roads.

Morning, T.O. — it's Saturday and you've got the whole day open. Weather's sitting at 17 with clouds rolling through, so it won't be too hot, but that UV is cranked at 8.0. If you're heading outside, sunscreen's not optional. Sunset's not till 8:48, so you've got almost fifteen hours of daylight to play with.

Few things to keep in mind if you're moving around the city. The Lower Don Trail is finally reopening after years of delays — though fair warning, it's not totally finished yet, so don't expect perfection. If you're heading south on the Don Valley Parkway before Dundas, expect some slowness. The Gardiner eastbound before Islington's also got work happening. On the 404 northbound at the 401 ramp, there's a disabled vehicle that's got all lanes closed, so that's going to back things up. And over on the 409 eastbound at Kipling, a collision's taken out the left shoulder and two left lanes. Give yourself extra time if you're heading out that way.

On the local side, there's some interesting stuff happening. A Vaughan man got arrested this week on an Italian mafia extradition warrant after fourteen years under the radar — solid reminder how long these things can take to catch up. Over in Scarborough, an auto shop owner's facing a city fine and has no clear way to move over a thousand scrap tires sitting on the lot. And if you've been hearing coyotes around the neighbourhood, a Trent biologist is saying the city needs to do more than just hazing — actual removal's what's needed if we want things to change. Mayor Chow's also bringing on Andrew Bevan, a veteran Liberal campaign guy, to run her re-election push.

If food's on the brain, you've got some solid openings to try. Bar Butcher just landed on Bay Street where Miller Tavern used to be — wallet-friendly steakhouse energy. Up north, Larb Muang is bringing authentic Northern Thai to the city from chef Porpy. The Bull BBQ Pit's opened a third spot in Liberty Village if you're craving smoke and meat. And if bagels are your thing, Primrose Bagel's teamed up with Kwinter's for hot dog parties on Friday nights.

Tonight's got juice if you're looking to get out. There's R&B and Ribs happening at REBEL from 4 PM, Sammy Obeid doing comedy at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre at 5, and Casa Loma's got the Dressing the Abbey exhibit running through the evening — fashion and history in one spot. If you want to catch Cirque du Soleil's Luzia, they're under the big top during the day too.

Grab a friend, catch some sun while it's there, and make this Saturday count.
