Monday's got some road drama — but the evening's yours

18°C and mostly clear, a few commute hiccups to dodge, and live music waiting when work's done.

Monday's got some road drama — but the evening's yours

Monday morning, 18°C, mostly cloudy, and you've got good daylight to play with — sunset's not until 8:46 tonight. UV's running high at 8.0, so if you're heading outside for lunch, throw on sunscreen without thinking twice. Nothing else weather-wise to sweat.

Commute's got a couple of bumps. There's a disabled vehicle blocking a right lane and the right shoulder on the 401 westbound collector at Jane, so if you're heading that way from the west end, give yourself a few extra minutes. Same goes if you're coming off the 401 westbound on-ramp at Kennedy in Scarborough — all lanes are closed there right now. Both are fluid situations, so keep an eye on it before you head out, but don't write off your whole morning.

Few things worth knowing today. That condo storage locker you dropped cash on? Turns out it might be stepping on Ontario's Fire Code, so if you're in a tower, worth a quick look at what you're actually allowed to keep down there. On a lighter note, laneway homes are having a real moment as people hunt for affordable ownership and multigenerational living space in T.O. — the conversation's shifting on what actually fits in the city these days.

Food-wise, if you're thinking lunch or dinner, lobster rolls are doing the rounds right now and there are five spots worth hitting. Pizzeria Badiali's dropping a one-day vodka sauce pizza chip pop-up tomorrow with Miss Vickie's, which is the kind of chaotic collab that's either genius or memorable for all the wrong reasons — you'll have to decide. If steakhouse energy is calling and you're not trying to spend a fortune, Bar Butcher just opened on Bay Street in the old Miller Tavern spot and they're keeping things wallet-friendly. There's also Larb Muang bringing authentic Northern Thai to the city if you want something with real heat and flavour.

One heads-up: if you've got Cadbury chocolate in the house, check the label. There's a recall out on certain bars due to undeclared pistachio, so worth a quick scan if anyone in your place has a nut thing going on.

Tonight's got options. J. Cole's at Scotiabank if you're in the mood for a big show. Want something smaller and live? Chandol's at the Horseshoe at 7, or The Femcels are playing The Drake same time. If you'd rather ease into the evening sitting down, Casa Loma's got a movie night in the gardens at 7:30 — perfect for the light you've still got left.

Make it a good one.
