Tuesday's a warm one — classic rock and steakhouse openings
Heat's back, Finch Ave's got some rough patches, and tonight's got live music for days.
Morning. It's 20°C but feels closer to 28 with that mist hanging around, so you're looking at proper summer feels after the cooler stretch. UV's sitting at 6 — that's high — so if you're outside much today, throw the sunscreen on. Sun doesn't drop until 8:45 tonight, which means you've got real evening light to work with if plans stretch late.
If you're heading north or west this morning, Finch Ave's got some rough stretches to know about. There's construction work scattered across the corridor — around Kendleton, Damascus, and out past Martin Grove — so if that's your route, give yourself a bit of extra time or scout an alternate way through. Nothing catastrophic, but it's worth the heads-up before you're stuck.
Couple of things worth your attention this week: E-bikes are becoming a real fire hazard in the city — Toronto Fire's been warning about battery dangers after a recent incident sent people to hospital. If you've got one, it's worth double-checking how you're storing and charging it. Also, there's a scam circulating that's targeting vendors at holiday markets, including the popular Distillery Winter Village setup, so if you're planning any market appearances or know folks who are, keep your guard up.
On the food side, there's some good momentum. If you've been craving a proper steakhouse without the pretension or the hit to your wallet, Bar Butcher just opened on Bay Street in the old Miller Tavern spot and it's supposed to be solid. And if you want something weird and fun today specifically, Pizzeria Badiali and Miss Vickie's are doing a vodka sauce pizza chip pop-up — one day only, so if that's your thing, don't sleep on it. Lobster rolls are having a proper moment around the 6ix too, if you want to hunt one down for lunch.
Tonite's got some real options. J. Cole's at Scotiabank Arena at 8 p.m. if hip-hop's your lane. Chicago and Styx are playing the RBC Amphitheatre at 7 — proper classic rock vibes. Casa Loma's got a Rock Symphony at 7:30 if you want something more theatrical. And if you're into Beatles deep cuts, there's a Beatles Number #1 Hits show at the Princess of Wales at 7:30. Sports-wise, AFC Toronto's hosting Calgary Wild FC at York Lions Stadium at 7 if you're keen on soccer.
Stay cool out there, and catch you tomorrow.
