Clear Thursday, 20 degrees, TTC signal trouble downtown.

Morning's looking clean. Twenty degrees, mainly clear skies, and that's a genuinely nice August day—UV's running high at 9.0 though, so if you're outside for lunch or catching the National Bank Open women's tennis at Sobeys Stadium this afternoon, slip the sunscreen on. You've got 14-plus hours of daylight, sunset at 8:34 PM.

Getting around: The TTC's got Line 1 Yonge-University shut down between St Clair and College while they sort out a signal problem. That's going to mess with your commute if you're relying on that stretch this morning—plan to take the streetcar or walk it if you're close enough, or hop a bus around it. On the highways, there are a few disabled vehicles creating lane closures on the 401 Westbound near Kipling, the 400 southbound ramp at 401, and the 401 Eastbound Express at Morningside. Nothing that's going to stop you dead, but give yourself a few extra minutes if you're heading out that way.

On the local radar: Toronto's asking people to weigh in on two proposed AI data centres in the city—there's real noise about power and water concerns, so if you care about that stuff, now's the time to speak up. Also worth knowing—two European firms just landed a $4.3-billion contract to build Ontario Line's downtown tunnel, so that's moving. And Drake threw a $500K gift at a Casa Loma event celebrating Toronto women, if you're keeping track of that kind of thing.

If you're thinking lunch, there's fresh stuff happening: Vers just opened as a queer-owned café and community hub over in Carleton Village, or Hotel À Toi on King West swapped their coffee-and-oysters vibe for a moody lobby bar this month if you want somewhere to sit and decompress. Fair warning though—Costco's recalling Alfa Croissants over potential mould, so check your freezer if you grabbed any recently.

Tonight's got energy. The Argonauts are hosting Calgary at BMO Field at 7:30 if you're a football person. Music-wise, you can catch Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte at the RBC Amphitheatre, Chris Stapleton at Rogers Stadium, or Big Thief at Meridian Hall—all starting around 6 or 7 PM. Clear night, 20 degrees, perfect for standing room and a drink.

Get that sunscreen on and have a good one.
