Clear skies, big evening — get sorted before the heat peaks
Commute's got some rough patches; Usher and Chris Brown are in town tonight.
Morning's looking clean — 20°C, mainly clear, UV's sitting at 8 (that's high, so sunscreen if you're out long), and you've got just over 14 hours of daylight before sunset at 8:27. It'll feel good before the afternoon settles in.
Commute-wise, a couple things to know. The 427 southbound on-ramp at Finch is completely closed for highway maintenance, so if that's your way, reroute now. There's also a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane and shoulder on the 427 northbound at Langstaff up in Vaughan. On the TTC, Line 5 Eglinton's running with delays eastbound at Cedarvale while they sort out a mechanical issue — shouldn't wreck your morning but worth knowing if that's your stop.
On the local side: a Toronto student just launched a free STEM camp over at York University for low-income kids, which is the kind of ting that matters. And if you were at Brick Room café on Bay Street before — the place got hit during a break-in a while back — they're back open now, community rallied hard for them. Good to see that bounce back.
Food-wise, if you're thinking lunch or dinner, Curryish Tavern's running a spicy curry challenge right now — $100 and a free meal if you can finish it, if you're feeling bold. Chotto Matte's global executive chef Jordan Sclare is drawing inspiration from Kensington Market these days too, if you want to catch what he's doing. And if the heat's getting to you, Toronto's leaning hard into slushies and frozen cocktails — smart move in weather like this.
Tonight's massive: Usher and Chris Brown are at Rogers Stadium at 7, the National Bank Open women's tennis quarterfinals kick off at Sobeys Stadium at 7 as well, and if you want to stay indoors, there's a Rock Symphony with Terence Gowan of Styx at Casa Loma at 7:30. Plenty of ways to spend the evening once the sun starts dropping. If you're heading out, it'll stay warm and clear, so dress light but bring something for when it cools down later.
Get your commute sorted before you leave, stay hydrated in that UV, and have a good one.
