Light rain, Line 1 delays—but the shows go on tonight
Wednesday's cool and damp, a few transit hiccups to dodge, and plenty to do indoors when the sun drops at 8:15.
Morning, T.O. It's 18°C and light rain out there, so grab a jacket and plan accordingly. UV's sitting at 6, which is high even under cloud cover—don't skip the sunscreen if you're out for a few hours. You've got just under 14 hours of daylight to work with, so it's a solid Wednesday rhythm.
On the commute side, keep an eye on Line 1 northbound at St Clair—there's a security incident causing delays up there right now. Worth checking the Rocket app before you head out. If you're taking the DVP southbound toward Dundas, expect the usual slowdown. The 160 Bathurst North's got a construction detour routing you through Bathurst St, Centre Ave and Promenade Cir, so add a couple minutes if that's your way.
Couple of things worth knowing this morning: Kazuma Okamoto just set the Blue Jays rookie home-run record with his 25th blast—the kid's had a banger of a summer. Over in University-Rosedale, things are heating up politically. That ward's got 11 candidates running for council, making it the most contested race in the city right now. And Nate Erskine-Smith threw his hat in the ring for Beaches–East York yesterday, so watch for that race to tighten up before Friday's deadline.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some solid options landing. A few spots around T.O. are doing danger dogs the way they should be done—loaded with bacon and done right. If you want something different, Toronto's got some spots nailing Chilean-style completos too. And if you're craving ribs, Biggs Ribs just opened in Brampton doing halal beef ribs out of an industrial spot—worth the trip if that's calling you. One heads-up though: Whole Foods has recalled some salsas and guacamole due to a salmonella link from the States, so double-check what you've got at home.
Tonight's got some heat if you're looking for a reason to get out. Faouzia's playing the Danforth Music Hall at 7, Chiodos and 156/Silence are at The Concert Hall, and Josh Tatofi's at the Horseshoe. All indoor spots, so the rain won't touch you. If you're more Broadway, Mamma Mia! and The Great Gatsby—The Musical are both running matinées into evening at their usual homes. Hockey's also on tonight out in Brampton at 7 if that's your speed.
Rain's staying light, so nothing's getting cancelled. Just one of those days where everything happens inside and the city feels a little cozier for it. Catch you tonight.
