Sunday's mild and clear — live music takes over T.O. tonight

Morning. It's 20 and cloudy out there — warmer than the last few days, which means you can do pretty much anything outside without overheating. You've got just over 13 hours of daylight, with the sun dropping at 7:57 PM, so plan your evening around that if you're thinking of catching something outdoors.

If you're driving anywhere near Mississauga, watch for a collision on the QEW heading toward Fort Erie at Cawthra Road — left lane and right shoulder are closed. Nothing major in the 416 itself this morning, but Adelaide at Spadina and the Pape corridor (from Danforth down to Gertrude) are seeing some work, so take it easy if you're heading that way.

Couple of things worth knowing this week: that invasive dog-strangling vine is spreading across Ontario and basically strangling out native plants. It's one of those things that sneaks up on you if you're not paying attention to what's growing in your neighbourhood. On the brighter side, GM just dropped $144 million to bring next-gen heavy-duty trucks back to the Oshawa plant — solid news for manufacturing in the region. And if you're into football at all, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is coming to the CNE for the NFL Experience September 5th through 7th, so that's worth marking down.

Food-wise, you've got options. If you're brunch people, Casa Loma's doing general admission starting at 9:30 AM and a "Breathtaking Gardens" experience at 9 AM if you want something a bit more immersive. For something new, there's a fresh Indigenous food spot that opened up — it's the only one in the city right now, so worth checking out. And if you're into the high-end thing, Lai Wah Heen's got that imperial goose situation for $8,888, but you need three days' notice and some serious etiquette. Casa Rubia's also coming to College and Palmerston this fall with Galician steaks and vermouth if that's your lane.

Tonight's packed. The Jays are home against Seattle at Rogers Centre at 1:37 PM if you want to catch a day game. For evening, you've got plenty of live music happening — Hablando Huevadas at the Danforth Music Hall at 6, TOTO with Christopher Cross and The Romantics at the RBC Amphitheatre at 6:45, and Learnmore Jonasi at Meadowvale Theatre at 5. There's also something going down at Cherry Beach at 4 PM if you want to stay outdoors while it's still light. Being Sunday, most of this stuff will wrap up early, so plan accordingly.
