Wednesday's a steamy one—commute's got some knots to untangle.

Morning. It's warm out there—21 actual, but the humidity's pushing it to feel closer to 29. Feels like summer's not quite ready to let go. You'll want to dress light, and if you're headed out midday, slap on sunscreen. UV's running high at 6.0. Sunset's at 7:52, so you've got a solid 13 hours of daylight to work with.

Commute heads-up: the highways are rougher than usual this morning. There's a disabled vehicle blocking all lanes on the 404 southbound on-ramp at Steeles, which is going to back things up heading from Markham into the city. The 400 southbound at Major Mackenzie in Vaughan's got a collision with the centre lane and right shoulder tied up. Over on the 401 express, there's a fender-bender at Dixie Road in Mississauga (eastbound, left side), and another one westbound at Meadowvale in T.O. Nothing catastrophic, but if you're highway-bound, give yourself extra time and maybe take the Gardiner or surface streets if you're already close to downtown.

Couple of things worth knowing. Modcity's back in hot water—tenth city investigation now, this time for illegal tree cutting on Ennerdale Road. And there's a safety alert in Brampton: police are looking for a man wanted for two sexual assaults on women within a two-hour window. On a brighter note, two friends walked the entire TTC Line 2 from Scarborough to Etobicoke for Out of the Cold—that's the kind of ting that reminds you why the community shows up.

Five spots around T.O. have rolled out film-inspired cocktails and menus—worth scoping if you want something a little more dressed up than usual. Queen West's still got La Barbacha in the mix too, though they've had a rough August with vandalism hits.
