Clear skies, live music all night, watch the Gardiner.
Thursday's a beauty—19°C and mainly clear. Just steer around a couple of road hits and you're golden.
Morning. It's 19°C, mainly clear, and you've got 13 hours of daylight to work with before sunset at 7:50 PM. UV's running high at 7.0, so if you're outside much today, get the sunscreen on—it's that kind of September morning.
Commute-wise, there's a collision on the 427 southbound at Finch that's got the right lane and shoulder shut down, so give yourself a little buffer if you're heading that way. On the Gardiner, there's some work happening around Park Lawn—the eastbound ramp and both sides of Park Lawn itself where it meets the Gardiner have closures, so if that's your route downtown, plan an extra five or ten minutes.
Worth knowing: the CNE shut down early yesterday after a massive thunderstorm rolled through the downtown, and it knocked out power for 65,000 Toronto Hydro customers with some serious wind and hail. Things are back up now, but keep an eye on your block if you lost power overnight.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, TIFF's in full swing and five Toronto restaurants have put together film-inspired cocktails and menus for the season—worth scoping out if you want to eat with that buzz in the air. There's also some serious cooking happening outside the 416: Chef Nicky Dao just put the spotlight on his family's pho spot in Sauga, and if you've been following the viral food wave, that Brampton cook Chef Jay and his oxtail grilled cheese are still making waves.
Tonight's a proper lineup if you're getting out. Live music's running across the city—pop, hip-hop, indie rock, electronic—all kicking off around 6 or 7 PM. Elevation Rhythm at History Toronto starts at 6, and Asal's doing their Kiss the Sun Tour at the Opera House at 7. If indie rock's your ting, 3QUENCY's Girls Talk Tour is at the Mod Club, also at 7. Decent mix of venues and vibes depending on where you land.
Weather's staying clear tonight, so outdoor spots will be solid. Grab your coat if you're heading out late—it'll cool off a bit.
Have a good one.
