Couple of things to know before you head out. The northbound Don Valley Parkway is backed up beyond Lawrence Ave E, so if that's your route downtown, give yourself extra time or find another way. There's also a disabled vehicle causing lane closures on the QEW Toronto-bound ramp at the 427—nothing good about that stretch this morning. And if you're heading west on the 401, there's highway maintenance taking out all the collector lanes at Warden Ave. The usual Tuesday grind, but stacked.

On the TTC side, just a heads-up: they're shutting down a three-kilometre stretch of Line 1 this weekend for track work, so plan around that if the subway's your usual weekend move.

Toronto Police opened a fourth community safety hub at Dufferin Mall—part of the larger push around transit safety and funding that actually came up at the first mayoral debate this year. It's worth paying attention to; the candidates are clashing on how serious the city wants to get about it. Meanwhile, there's been a shooting in North York near Jane and Finch that killed a teen, which is heavier than the usual morning news.

On the lighter side, TIFF's in full swing, so if you're thinking about catching a film tonight, there are multiple screens running at different times—Tehran, Under the Skin at 5:15, or The Pervert's Guide To Utopias if you want something else.
