Thursday's a mild one—18 and mostly clear, with some transit hiccups.
Warmer than it's been. Check the roads before you head out, and make plans for tonight while you're thinking straight.
Morning. It's 18 degrees and mostly cloudy—noticeably warmer than the last few days, so you can leave the heavy coat at home. Sun's down by 6:59 PM, so plan your evening accordingly. UV's moderate at 4.0, nothing that'll catch you off guard.
Getting around: There's a single-vehicle closure on the 401 westbound in Milton that'll back things up if you're heading that way. If you're in the west end, watch International Blvd between Galaxy and Carlingview, and Islington southbound at Steeles is also affected. Westbound Albion at Carrier is another spot to know about. Nothing catastrophic, but give yourself a few extra minutes if any of those are on your route.
On the transit side, GO Trains had a rough go yesterday—one stalled near Union for two hours and left hundreds of people hanging. Worth keeping in mind if you're planning to rely on the rails today.
There's been some real talk this week about the gap between how safe T.O. actually is versus how safe people feel. The mayoral race is picking that up, and it's shaping some of the conversation heading into the vote. Meanwhile, small businesses downtown are getting squeezed—construction's cutting foot traffic, and safety concerns are making it harder to keep the lights on. If you've noticed fewer people on your usual strip, that's part of what's happening.
If you're thinking dinner, Millie Desserts is back in the city with a new window spot on Adelaide Street—good call if you want something sweet. There's also been a push lately for tableside theatre in restaurants, if you want a night that's more than just eating. And heads up: some menus around town are starting to use AI-generated food photos, and people aren't happy about it—so maybe ask before you order based on the picture.
There's a whole film festival running today if you want something to do—the Mississauga International South Asian Film Festival has screenings and a symposium all day at Screening Room LAC. If you're in a concert mood, there's stuff happening tonight: Florence Road at the Drake at 7, and the Martin Boys at Rivoli the same time. Phoebe Bridgers is also in the city with Alex G if you want to catch that energy. Nothing that requires you to be outside in bad weather, so pick whatever feels right.
Sunset's just before 7, so if you're grabbing drinks or catching a show, you've got a decent window before it gets dark. Mild evening ahead—good night to be out.
Stay sorted.
