Tuesday Cold Snap—Bundle Up and Get Out Tonight

It's 5°C this morning and dropping—frost advisory is live, so if you've got plants or a car parked outside, sort that now. Sun sets at 6:50 tonight, so you've got a decent window but not a long one. UV's at 4, so if you're out midday the rays'll still catch you, but honestly the chill's the thing today. Layers, cap, gloves if you're headed anywhere on foot.

Commute-wise, watch for closures on Milton St and Oxford St around the Annex—that's going to slow you down if you're routing that way. University Ave from Elm to Edward is also closed. Nothing massive, but worth knowing before you leave. The bigger disruption lands this weekend: Line 2 shuts down between Kipling and Jane for infrastructure work the entire weekend, so if you're heading west, plan ahead now.

On the local front, Brad Bradford's picked up backing from three more federal Liberal MPs in the mayoral race, so that story's moving. And advance voting for the municipal election runs through October 11 if you want to get ahead of it. The 'Crypto King' trial's also happening—Aiden Pleterski's facing fraud and money laundering charges. Worth following if you're into the whole scene.

Food-wise: Millie Desserts is back in the city with a window on Adelaide Street, so if you've been missing them, that's your move. Liberty Village's getting a Tim Hortons where the Starbucks was at 15 Solidarity Way—mixed feelings on that one from the locals. If you're thinking fancier, Bushido's bringing omakase-kaiseki dining to Casa Loma starting October 22. And there's a whole tableside theatre dining trend happening across T.O. right now if you want to get your dinner with some performance.

Tonight's worth getting out for before the frost really settles. Jessie Ware's at History Toronto at 7—electronic pop, solid set. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are at the Danforth Music Hall if you want something heavier. Sawyer Hill's at the Mod Club. Or if you're after something completely different, Lisa LaFlamme's doing an event on democracy at the Elgin & Winter Garden at 6:30. Plenty of options, but get indoors before sunset and you're golden.

Stay warm out there.
