Wednesday's Clear and Mild—Music and Movement in the 6ix
Bike Share is down, the Rocket's running smooth again, and tonight's got serious live music across town.
Morning's sitting at 11°C and mainly clear—jacket weather, basically perfect. UV's at 4.0, so if you're outside midday you'll want some sun protection, but mostly you're looking at a solid fall Wednesday. Sun's dropping at 6:48 PM, so plan your evening around that if you're heading out.
A couple of transit heads-up: Bike Share Toronto's servers are currently down, so if you were planning to grab a bike this morning, that's not happening yet. Line 1 between York Mills and Eglinton is back to regular service, same with Line 2 between Kipling and Jane—so the Rocket's moving like it should. If you're heading north on Bathurst, construction's got you detouring via Steeles Ave W instead, so build a few extra minutes in.
On the neighbourhood front, there's a hit-and-run on Vaughan Road that police are still looking for witnesses on—if you saw anything, they need to hear from you. Bigger picture, evictions are spiking hard across the GTA right now, up 20% with a lot of people sitting on rent arrears over ten grand. It's the kind of thing you're hearing about from neighbours quietly. And in the mayoral race, Chow and Bradford are really going at it over Toronto's stalled rental housing—it's the ting everyone cares about, and it's not settled.
If you're thinking about lunch or dinner, Tangssant Viennoiserie just took best croissant in the city, which is the kind of W you don't sleep on if you're a pastry person. For something more substantial tonight, there's a new premium sushi AYCE spot that's opened up if that's calling your name. And heads up for next week—Bushido's bringing omakase-kaiseki dining to Casa Loma starting October 22, if you want to mark that down.
Tonically speaking, tonight's got a serious music lineup. You've got Kelela at the Danforth Music Hall, Katie Pruitt at The Drake, Julia Wolf at The Opera House, and Saint Harison with Savannah Re at The Garrison—basically pick your vibe and go. If sports is more your speed, FC Supra's at York Lions Stadium taking on Inter Toronto FC at 7:30 PM. And if you want something with production value, The Karate Kid musical is running at the Princess of Wales Theatre at 1:30 PM if you want an afternoon thing.
Stay warm out there, and if you're hitting the evening, get moving before the sun drops. See you around T.O.
