Clear Thursday, solid transit friction, live music tonight.
10°C and bright—bundle up for the commute. TTC's got some line work, but the evening's got real music if you can swing it.
Morning's come in clear and cool at 10°C with good sun if you're heading out—UV's sitting at 3, so you won't fry, but the jacket stays on. Sunset's at 6:46, so you've got just over eleven hours before dark hits.
Couple of TTC things to know before you head out. Line 1 between St Clair and College is down while they sort a mechanical issue—reroute or give yourself extra time if that's your move. The 501 Queen's detoured eastbound through Spadina and Adelaide while they deal with a disruptive customer, and the 112 West Mall's swinging via Eringate and Renforth for sewer work. Nothing catastrophic, but worth clocking if those routes are part of your commute.
On the city side, there's some real stuff moving. Brad Bradford's pushing to strip 12 kilometres of Scarborough bus lanes, and transit folks are already pushing back—might be worth paying attention depending on where you're coming from. On the flip side, Toronto's now offering free pre-approved designs for fourplexes and sixplexes if you're even thinking about that angle. And if you're voting this cycle, there's a Two Chows situation on the ballot that's already causing some confusion as advance voting opens—might be worth a quick read before you mark anything.
If you're thinking lunch, there's some good burger spots worth a scoop across the city—tavern-style, smashed, hand-ground, the works. Tangssant Viennoiserie just took Toronto's best croissant title if you need a pastry moment. Word's also out that Wild Fork, the U.S. luxury meat place, is shutting down all its Canadian operations, so if that was your ting, clock it while you can. Over in Liberty Village, residents are bummed that a Tim Hortons is replacing the Starbucks at 15 Solidarity Way—one of those neighbourhood shifts that lands weird.
Tonight's got some real live music going. Prince of Eden's playing Sneaky Dee's at 6:30 with Nolen Durham and Elfrida if you're into it, and there's also Lenny Pearce at Meridian Hall at 6 if that lands better. Casa Loma's running a spooky horror show at 7 if you want something different—totally indoor, so the weather won't mess with you. There's also a Darcel Wright Memorial Classic tournament starting at noon at Mattamy Athletic Centre if you're catching live sport.
Clear night ahead once the sun drops, so outdoor plans will work fine if you've got them. Bundle up though—10 degrees doesn't feel like much once the sun's gone.
Stay sorted.
