Light rain Tuesday—warmer day ahead, Raps at home tonight
18°C and damp, but some transit bumps to know about. Evening's got live music and hoops.
Morning's sitting at 18 degrees with light rain, so grab an umbrella for the commute—nothing heavy, just enough to keep things damp through the afternoon. We're up a few degrees from recent days, which'll feel decent even if it's grey. Sun's down by 6:38 PM, so plan your evening accordingly.
Couple things to know getting around the 6ix today. The southbound Don Valley Parkway off-ramp to South Don Mills is closed, so if you're heading that way from the south, you'll want to reroute—add a few minutes to the trip. There's also work on Eglinton Ave W at Keele St, so that stretch is worth avoiding if you've got flexibility. And heads up for the weekend: a key stretch of the TTC's busiest commuter rail line shuts down all weekend, so if you rely on that corridor, plan ahead now.
Worth knowing—subway delays across the system have jumped over 50 percent since 2019, and the TTC's data points to disorderly passengers as a major driver. It's been a real shift on the Rocket.
On a brighter note, there's good stuff happening around the city. A Toronto teen just wrapped their fifth and final 100km Thanksgiving walk raising awareness for homeless youth—that's a heavy commitment, and worth recognizing. And the Scott Mission served over 500 people at their annual Thanksgiving dinner as food insecurity keeps deepening across T.O. If you're looking to give, those are real organizations doing real work.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, Tangssant Viennoiserie just won best croissant in the city if you're in the mood for something fresh and buttery. There's also solid burger options across town if that's calling you—tavern-style, smashed, hand-ground, depending on what you're after.
Tonight's got some good options depending on your mood. The Raps are home at Scotiabank Arena taking on the Knicks at 7:00 PM—solid matchup to catch if you're around. If live music's more your speed, Oso Oso's at The Garrison at 6:30 PM with Leisure Hour and Bad Luck, or there's Joep Beving over at The Great Hall at 7:00 PM if you want something quieter. Either way, bring a jacket—it'll be damp out there.
Stay dry out there. See you tonight.
