Mild Wednesday, bike lane drama, and Kawhi's back in town

Morning. It's a soft 14°C out there—mostly cloudy, nothing heavy coming. You'll want a light jacket if you're heading out; sunset's at 6:36 PM, so you've got time to move through the day without the sky flipping too early. UV's low (2.0), so no need to stress that part.

A couple of road things to know if you're commuting east: there's a watermain break around Kennedy, so the 43 is detouring northbound via McNicoll, Milliken, and Passmore. If you're near Bayview and Merton, there's work happening on McRae Drive and Merton Street around there too—nothing catastrophic, but worth knowing if that's your usual route.

On the local scene: Kawhi's back. The Raps dominated in their preseason opener against the Knicks, and if you've been waiting to see what this team looks like with Leonard back on the court, the answer is looking pretty good. Meanwhile, the city's in the weeds over bike lanes again—the Ford government's moving to strip nearly 20 kilometres of them, and Etobicoke residents are firing back at candidates about traffic, housing, and infrastructure in general. It's the same conversation we've been having for years, just louder.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, Bodega TinTin just opened on St. Clair West with Venezuelan-Spanish cocktails and tapas—solid if you want something a bit different. And heads up: Wild Fork, the U.S. luxury meat chain, is closing all its Canadian shops, so if that was your go-to, time to scoop elsewhere. If you're feeling burgers, there's a rundown of six solid spots across the city doing them right—tavern-style, smashed, hand-ground, take your pick.

Tonically speaking, tonight's got range. TFC are at home against Orlando City at BMO Field at 7:30 PM if soccer's your thing. On the music and events side, there's metal at the Opera House (Cradle of Filth with a proper lineup), Jai'Len Josey at the Drake Underground, and if you want something different, Casa Loma's got their Halloween vibe going strong right into the evening. Beck's also at Massey Hall if you want something more low-key. Musicals are running at Ed Mirvish and the Princess of Wales if that's the move.

Not a bad Wednesday. Get out there.
