Clear and cold: Halloween vibes, live music, and a soccer match.
Bundle up this Sunday—it's crisp out there, but the city's got plenty to do before dark.
Morning. We've dropped to 5°C overnight and it's staying clear all day, so that frost advisory is real—if you've got plants or anything sensitive outside, cover them up now. Good news is the sun's sticking around until 6:30 PM, so you've got a full 11 hours to move around. UV's at 4, which is moderate, so you're fine without going overboard on the sunscreen, but the cold snap compared to the past few days means jacket weather is officially here.
On the roads, there's some lane work along Lake Shore Blvd W between Windermere and Yonge that'll affect the eastbound curb lane, and Bay St has a couple of spots with restrictions near Richmond and Front. Nothing that's going to tank your morning if you're heading out, but budget a bit extra time if you're driving downtown or to the waterfront.
Election talk is heating up—Brad Bradford's just promised 15,000 jobs for people under 30 if he wins the mayor's race in nine days, and over in Ward 11, Mike Layton's filed to reclaim his seat now that Saxe's stepped back. Good time to tune in if you've been thinking about what's next for the city.
If you're peckish, there's free food scattered around T.O. this Thanksgiving weekend—turkeys, pies, vegan roasts—so scoop a meal if you need it. If you want to go out, Bodega TinTin just opened on St. Clair West with Venezuelan-Spanish cocktails and tapas, or dig into some of the city's best pastries at a spot worth the wait. There's also a deep dive happening on Latin food spots in the GTA if you're in the mood to explore.
Sports-wise, AFC Toronto's hosting Calgary Wild FC at BMO Field at 1:00 PM—solid afternoon outing if you're into it. The cold won't stop the match, and you've got plenty of daylight to catch it.
Evening's packed. Casa Loma's running Legends of Horror with family hours starting at 5:30 PM if you want something spooky-but-not-too-intense before dark. Ian Sweet's playing The Baby G at 7:00 PM for live music. There's also a Halloween Harvest Festival at Bradley House Museum at noon if you want daytime vibes, or hit Casa Loma's general admission at 9:30 AM for a wander before the horror stuff kicks in. Charlotte Tang's doing a fortepiano performance at Studio Theatre LAC at 11:00 AM if you're leaning classical.
It's a good Sunday to get out, layer up, and catch something live before the light goes. Don't sleep on the free food either if you're hungry.
Stay warm out there.
