Clear Tuesday, mild start—watch the TTC this weekend
Grab a layer, plan around some big transit closures coming, and scope your evening plans.
It's a clear one this morning—9°C, so bring a jacket but nothing heavy. Sun's out, UV's moderate at 4.0, and you've got a solid 10 hours and 48 minutes of daylight to work with. Sunset hits 6:26 PM, so if you're thinking of stepping outside after work, you've got a narrow window before dark.
A heads-up on the TTC this weekend: major stretches of the subway line are shutting down, and a key train route in and out of the city goes down too. Nothing today, but get your weekend plans sorted now if you're counting on transit. On the street side, University at Queen West has some work happening, and there's construction on Bay near Albert and around Weston and Lawrence—nothing that'll wreck your Tuesday commute, but worth knowing if those are your usual routes.
Couple of things worth knowing around the city: a contractor in Scarborough vanished mid-job after tearing a roof off, and the owner's insurance is denying the claim—messy situation. There was also an arrest made in connection with an unprovoked assault on a westbound TTC bus at Eglinton, and police made a fourth arrest in the Etobicoke bike lane protest situation as removal work continues.
If you're thinking lunch or dinner, there's some good stuff happening. Prince Street Pizza is opening a second location up at Yonge and Eglinton, and if you're into bars and cocktails, Little Italy's got a Calvados Boulard crawl running across three spots. Word is Miracle Christmas Bar is coming back to T.O. in November with two locations and new snacks, so that's something to circle.
Tonight's packed if you're looking to get out. Lauren Sanderson's at The Mod Club at 7, Mike D's at History Toronto, and if you're into experimental stuff, Igorrr is at The Concert Hall with Secret Chiefs 3 and VMO—that's Violent Magic Orchestra—for the full brutal lineup. It's all indoor, which works fine with the clear night.
If you're not doing the evening thing, Casa Loma's got their horror nights running, or you could just walk around—it's one of those rare October days where you can actually enjoy being outside before the sun drops.
Stay sorted out there.
