Cool Thursday — Get Out Early, Stick Around for Live Music
6°C and clear skies make for a crisp morning commute. TTC's back to normal on King, and there's plenty to do tonight.
Grab layers this morning — it's 6°C and partly cloudy, which means you'll want a jacket on the walk to the streetcar but it'll feel good once you're moving. Sunset's at 6:23 p.m., so if you're planning to get outside today, do it before the light fades.
Couple of transit heads-ups: King streetcar's back to regular service both directions now, so that's sorted. There's still some work on Carlaw near Victor, and a few spots on Bayview and Dixon if those are in your path, but nothing that's going to wreck your day.
Worth knowing — there's some legal back-and-forth brewing over the Bloor bike lane, and a missing vulnerable person in Markham that police are looking for. If you work near any of those areas or know Markham, keep an eye out.
If you're hunting lunch, Tapow's Malaysian Hokkien Mee is back after two years and they're running service off Bar Dystopia's patio on Parkdale, which is a solid move for a Thursday bite. Prince Street Pizza is also opening a second spot up at Yonge and Eglinton if that's closer to you. And if you've been meaning to check out the new castle restaurant everyone's talking about, this week's your window.
Tonight's got real options. There's live music at the Danforth Music Hall (Plini with Night Verses at 6 p.m.), comedy at the Drake, theatre over at the Elgin and Winter Garden, and a couple of smaller venues if you want something tighter. Leafs are also playing a Fanboni thing at Scotiabank Arena at 7 p.m. if that's your ting. The cool weather and early sunset make it feel like you should be inside somewhere warm anyway — drinks, a show, something with a roof.
If you're thinking ahead to the weekend, Casa Loma's got their horror nights running, which tracks for late October.
Catch you on the other side of the day.
