Clear Saturday—Halloween vibes, transit hiccups, brunch on the menu.
4°C and sunny with sunset at 6:20. Couple of TTC detours to know about; plenty to do tonight if you're feeling it.
It's crisp out there—4 degrees, clear skies, decent sun if you're heading out for the day. UV's a 3, so you're fine without the heavy stuff, but layer up. Sun's going down at 6:20, so plan your evening around that if you're doing anything outdoors.
Couple of transit things to clock: Line 2's got no service between Kipling and Jane stations today because of infrastructure work—shuttle buses are your move. The 75 Sherbourne's detouring via Jarvis, Gerrard East and Dundas East for construction, so if that's your usual, add a few minutes. Good news is the 506 Carlton's back to normal between High Park and College at Lansdowne, and the 301 Queen's running regular service again from Humber Loop through Roncesvalles. Just check before you head out if you're depending on any of those.
On the bigger beat: City Hall's wedding bookings are frozen through 2026 because of renovation disputes—if that's on your radar with anyone, you already know it's a mess. There's also an inquest starting November 12 into Jamal Francique's death from a Peel police shooting, so that's worth being aware of as it unfolds. And if you're following it, there was a two-alarm fire on Michael Power Place in Etobicoke overnight that left someone seriously injured.
If you're thinking food, there's always something good to scoop. Crosstown Craft BBQ's opening a permanent spot on Comstock Road next month if you've been wanting to try them. Bushido opened last night at Casa Loma with blind kaiseki dining if you're feeling something experimental and have $350 to drop. There's also a solid roundup of dumpling spots across the city's best dim sum neighbourhoods if you're craving that, or if you want to see what else is new, there's a list of five hot restaurants worth checking out right now.
For tonight: there's the Marlies playing the Rockford Icehogs at the Coliseum at 4 p.m. if hockey's your thing. Casa Loma's got Legends of Horror—Family Hours running at 5:30 and 6 p.m. if you want something a little spooky but still kid-friendly. Fight Night's happening at The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort at 5 p.m. if you're in the mood. Plenty of live music and theatre around if you want to check what's happening—book early if something catches your eye.
Clear, cold, and plenty to do. Get out there and make the most of the daylight.
