Mild Wednesday in the 6ix, Raptors tip-off tonight

Morning, T.O. It's a mostly cloudy Wednesday, sitting at a comfortable 10°C, and notably warmer than the days we've had this week, so the light jacket can stay on the hook if you're heading out early. UV is only a 3, so sunscreen isn't a must today, but the sun does set at 6:14 PM, which gives you about ten and a half hours of daylight to work with. Plan anything outdoors around that and you'll be fine.

For getting around, the big one to know is that Line 1 Yonge-University is back to regular service after the disruption at College station, so the subway should be running the way you expect. Keep an eye out for the Warden Avenue work in Scarborough, where the closure runs from just south of Bridletowne Circle down to just south of West Highland Creek Trail. If your route takes you through there, give yourself some extra time or find another way around.

On the local front, there's a youth confidence program called Journey to Self starting up in Malton, launched by Sariah and Ariella Morgan, which is a good one to pass along to anyone with kids or teens. Over in Durham, a police constable has been charged in a child sexual exploitation probe and suspended without pay. And Ontario has fined Irving Consumer Products $100,000 after a worker was critically hurt at its Toronto plant, a reminder of why workplace safety rules matter.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat, Black+Blue Toronto just landed on Tripadvisor's list of the best fine dining restaurants in Canada, so that's a strong pick for a special dinner. Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse is also hosting a three-night collaboration dinner with Hawksmoor if you want something a little different this week.

Tonight the marquee is the Orlando Magic visiting the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena, tip-off at 7:30 PM, so expect the Scotia crowd to be loud. If basketball isn't your thing, there's live music across the city: MARIS at The Drake Hotel at 7:00, Waylon Wyatt with Noah James at The Danforth Music Hall at 7:00, and Rosegarden Funeral Party at The Opera House also at 7:00. The Story So Far is playing History Toronto at 6:30 PM if you want to get out a bit earlier. All of those are indoor, so the weather won't matter once you're inside.

Look, it's a good Wednesday to be out and about, with the Raptors on and a solid spread of shows. Stay warm, take the long way if the Warden work is in your path, and enjoy the evening.
