G Flip brings queer joy and inclusivity to sold-out Mod Club show with Beaches surprise

G Flip delivered a celebration of community and queer safety at the Mod Club Saturday night, mixing radio-ready pop with conscious attention to audience wellbeing in a packed 70-minute set.

The non-binary Australian artist—born Georgia Flipa, known for ARIA Awards and growing prominence through tracks like "Bed on Fire" featured in Amazon Prime's Off Campus—drew from their 2023 album Drummer and 2025's Dream Ride alongside older material and surprises. The setlist opened with "Disco Cowgirl" as the crowd sang along, followed by the sexually charged "GAY 4 ME," where G Flip produced a Progress Pride flag and set the tone: fun, inclusivity, and community.

Mid-set, G Flip performed "Drink Too Much / Real Life / Hyperfine" from the balcony on the opposite side of the venue, then returned to stage to establish clear house rules: "You're not allowed to be a dickhead," they announced, praising the LGBTQIA+ community and anyone managing anxiety or depression "for showing up." They also established a safety protocol—if anyone needed help, audience members could wave their phones and G Flip would stop the show to assist.

The Beaches' Jordan Miller and Leandra Earl joined G Flip onstage for their collaboration "LEZ GO!"—a natural moment given the two acts' creative partnership. The Beaches had opened G Flip's recent Australian tour, and G Flip had appeared during The Beaches' Coachella debut earlier this year. The two also co-wrote and produced The Beaches' track "Last Girls at the Party." G Flip previously performed in Toronto at Lavender Wild Festival in 2023 at Echo Beach and at History in October 2025.

G Flip moved fluidly between vocals, drums, and saxophone throughout, creating a dynamic show that felt as much like a celebration of belonging as a concert. The packed venue reflected a visible comfort level among the largely sapphic crowd, with many date nights and public displays of affection visible throughout.
