Toronto's Massey Hall hosted the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame's 2026 induction ceremony, celebrating five artists who shaped Canada's musical landscape. The Tragically Hip, Leslie Feist, Mike Reno and Paul Dean of Loverboy, and Roch Voisine were formally inducted on September 27.
Feist's tribute drew an impressive lineup of collaborators. GRAMMY Award-winning producer FINNEAS inducted her and performed "My Moon My Man," while Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy performed "The Park." Both Tweedy and FINNEAS requested to participate specifically to honour her songwriting. Charlotte Cornfield opened with "How Come You Never Go There."
The Tragically Hip tribute proved emotionally resonant. Actor and filmmaker Jay Baruchel inducted the band, while Indigenous artists Sebastian Gaskin and Tia Wood performed "Bobcaygeon." A spotlight illuminated Gord Downie's iconic final tour hat during a medley. City and Colour and Ruby Waters (with production by Drake collaborator Boi-1da) delivered a new rendition of "Ahead by a Century," and Allison Russell made her live debut performing "Wheat Kings." Our Lady Peace closed with "Locked in the Trunk of a Car."
Loverboy songwriting partners Mike Reno and Paul Dean were inducted by Canadian songwriter Jim Vallance. Amanda Marshall opened their tribute with "Turn Me Loose," followed by Todd Kerns performing "The Kid Is Hot Tonite" and TALK bringing the crowd to its feet with "Working for the Weekend."
Roch Voisine was inducted by Olympic gold medallists and Walter Cup champions Marie-Philip Poulin and Laura Stacey. Voisine performed "I'll Always Be There" with Quebec icon Isabelle Boulay and a full choir, while La Voix winner Ludovick Bourgeois took on "Hélène" and country artists Sara Dufour and two-time Félix Award winner Matt Lang performed "Darlin'" and "Kissing Rain."
The ceremony also recognized ZALE and Marie Céleste as the 2026 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Breakthrough Songwriter Award recipients, presented by TikTok. George Stroumboulopoulos and Marie-Mai hosted the event, which was live-streamed globally via Amazon Music's Twitch channel and Prime Video in Canada.
