Beaches Brewing returns with new look and menu

After closing in December, the Queen East brewery reopened in late May under new ownership, swapping tropical vibes for French and South Asian cuisine.

Six months after announcing its permanent closure, Beaches Brewing Co. has reopened on Queen East with a fresh aesthetic and culinary direction.

The brewery, which occupied its aqua-and-orange storefront for six years, shut down in December 2025. Owner Carl Pratt cited winter traffic drop-off and rising costs as reasons for closing. Locals turned out in droves to say goodbye, but the story didn't end there.

The space now belongs to a revived iteration of Beaches Brewing, with Pratt heading the brewing operation and new co-owners joining the venture. Gone is the beachy tropical palette and casual pub fare. In its place: a slick black-and-bronze sign with a redesigned logo — a cresting wave with a hop emerging like a rising sun — and a menu rooted in French and South Asian influences.

The reopening caps an unlikely reprieve for one of Queen East's few constants. The stretch is notorious for turnover, making Beaches Brewing's survival — even in new form — a small victory for the neighbourhood. Summer's shaping up to bring more life to the block; Leuty's, a new restaurant, is opening nearby later in the season.
