Rikki Tikki, the Kensington Market staple known for modern Indian fare, has taken over the 87-seat Jarvis Street space left vacant when the iconic Bombay Palace buffet closed sometime in mid-2025. The restaurant opened its second location at 71 Jarvis St., marking the return of Indian cuisine to the longtime landmark intersection of Jarvis and Adelaide.
Bombay Palace had been an unmistakable fixture of Old Toronto, its grand billboard presiding over the corner for decades before it quietly shuttered, directing longtime customers to its sister location in Brampton.
Rikki Tikki's new 2,700 sq. ft. space will offer the same carefully curated menu the restaurant is known for: street food-inspired snacks like samosa chaat, an extensive lineup of veggie and meat-based curries, biryanis, and nine different bread variations. Unlike Bombay Palace's all-you-can-eat model, Rikki Tikki's offering is à la carte.
The arrival of a new tenant at the Jarvis location speaks to the restaurant's expansion beyond Kensington Market, where Rikki Tikki established its first outpost. The restaurant now operates at 209 Augusta Ave. and 71 Jarvis St.
