Three Toronto Spots Land on North America's 50 Best
Quetzal, Edulis, and Mhel earned spots on the prestigious list. Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Lincoln took third place.
Toronto's restaurant scene just got major international recognition. Three local spots landed on North America's 50 Best Restaurants for 2026, with Quetzal in Little Italy ranking highest at number eight.
Educational restaurant Edulis came in at 25th, followed by Mhel at 28th. The recognition puts Toronto in rare company—only a handful of Canadian cities had multiple entries on the list unveiled Thursday night in New Orleans.
But the biggest Ontario surprise was Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Lincoln, a small town two hours outside Toronto. The restaurant claimed third place on the entire continent, beaten only by Chicago's Smyth and Calgary's Eight. It also won the 2026 Art of Hospitality award for front-of-house service.
Quetzal's rise to eighth caps years of recognition for the Italian restaurant, which has consistently appeared on "best of" lists since opening. The restaurant's focus on seasonal Italian cooking and strong execution has made it a regular fixture in critical rankings.
Across Canada, Montreal restaurants also performed well with four spots on the list, including Mon Lapin at number five. Vancouver had two entries, and Quebec City, Whistler, and Collingwood each earned recognition. The list reflects a shift in North American fine dining toward regional excellence outside major metropolitan centers.
