Uncle Pete's, the focaccia-based Italian sandwich shop that became a sensation when it opened in Kensington Market in summer 2025 before closing indefinitely this spring, is making a comeback this Sunday at an unexpected home: Track & Field, a College Street nightlife staple.
Starting Sunday, July 12, Uncle Pete's will operate from the bar's kitchen, serving sandwiches from 11 a.m. until they sell out Wednesday through Sunday. The team is already eyeing expanded hours and additional menu items to cater to different dayparts soon.
The shop hit a snag with leases and renewals earlier this year, forcing an abrupt closure less than 12 months after it opened. The gold rush of early success—lines around the block and immediate cult status—couldn't overcome the logistical challenges of finding permanent space in the city. Track & Field, located at 582 College St., offers both a new home and a natural pairing: a restaurant operation inside a venue that already draws crowds.
