An Ontario boxing coach has gone viral after recording a racist encounter with a woman who attempted to recruit him into an anti-immigrant crusade. Coach Scott, who posts online from Ajax, recorded the interaction while sitting outside drinking coffee over the weekend and shared it to Instagram on June 30, where it has amassed thousands of reactions.
The woman, sitting in a red vehicle, rolled down her window and asked Scott if he would help her "get foreigners out of Canada." Scott said he initially thought she was complimenting him before the conversation took a sinister turn. "I think white men should help get foreigners out of Canada," she said in the video.
Scott quickly shut it down, replying, "I think you need to keep driving." When he informed her she was being recorded, she replied gleefully: "I don't care!" The woman reiterated that she's "going to tell everyone as soon as I drive out of this street, everyone, get the foreigners out of Canada."
The clip racked up more than 5,000 likes, 2,000 comments, and thousands of shares, with the vast majority condemning her remarks. Other visible minorities applauded Scott for not brushing off the racist remark and confronting the driver directly. Internet personalities, including Dan James Rodo with over one million followers, commented in support.
Ontario's current population sits at 16,191,372, with roughly 4 million residents born outside of Canada. Around one in four residents is foreign-born, a reality that shapes day-to-day life and culture across the province.
