T&T Supermarket is relocating its Unionville location to a significantly larger space at CF Markville shopping centre in Markham, expanding from 50,000 to 68,000 square feet when the move happens in 2028.
The new location will become Ontario's largest T&T Supermarket, surpassing the 66,000-square-foot location opening this fall at RioCan Empress Walk in North York. The Unionville store, which has operated for 14 years, will close as part of the relocation.
Tina Lee, CEO of T&T Supermarket, said Markham has been central to the chain's growth. "Unionville has been a wonderful home for us for the past 14 years, and we are proud of everything we have built together with our colleagues and customers," Lee said. "As our customers' needs continue to grow, this bigger store at CF Markville will strengthen our presence in the market, create an even better experience for our customers, and bring more jobs to the local community."
Sal Iacono, Cadillac Fairview's President and CEO, called the announcement a "major milestone" for the mall. T&T Supermarket was acquired by Loblaw in July 2009. The expansion comes as the Vancouver-based chain accelerates its Ontario footprint with multiple large-format openings.
